FRANCISCO VELASCO

He is born in Sevilla, and he began his studies on dance at the Dance School of Matilde Coral. And gets the degree in dance at the Conservatorio de Música y Danza of Seville. In 1990 he joined to the Spanish National Ballet becoming First Dancer in 1997, performing Jasón in “Medea”, Andrés in “La Gitanilla”, “Bolero” from the Master Granero, the Molinero in “El Sombrero de Tres Picos” and the “Zapateado de Sarasate” from Antonio Ruiz, among others.

He has been teaching Spanish Dance at the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires. In 1998 he danced in La Zarzuela Theatre in the premiere of “Poeta” from Javier Latorre, with music of Vicente Amigo and the artistic direction of La Fura dels Baus. In 2000 he dances with Lola Greco “El Amor Brujo” and dances as the bullfighter Escamillo in “Carmen” with a Igor Yebra.

When he came back to the Spanish National Ballet, performed the Comendador in “Fuenteovejuna” of Antonio Gades. He has also worked in 2005 dancing the suite in “El Sombrero de Tres Picos” from Manuel de Falla at the Spanish Pavillion in Expo of Haichí in Nagoya (Japón). Nowadays he has his own Dance Company.
